Overall winner: That’s a tough one — The Venetian and The Palazzo are both awesome. For the most part, it’s a tie! As a hotel guest, it doesn’t matter which tower you stay in — you’ll have access to all the same amenities.

If you’re traveling solo or as a couple, the 1-King suites are better at The Palazzo. If you’re eyeing the 2-Queen suites (for families / larger groups), both hotels offer nearly the same layout and will be more than enough.

If you ask us? We like The Palazzo just a teensy bit more.

The Venetian Resort Las Vegas is a 5-star luxury hotel that officially opened in 1999, designed to replicate the beauty and grandeur of Venice, Italy.

With the addition of The Palazzo Tower in 2008, the combined properties have more than 7,000 suites, making this “under one roof” complex the largest hotel in the world.

As a hotel guest of either tower, you’ll have access to all the same stuff (10 outdoor pools, 40+ restaurants, the award-winning Canyon Ranch Spa and fitness center, lots of eclectic bars, etc.), so for all intents and purposes, there’s really no difference when it comes to amenities.

The “better” hotel will depend mostly on:

  • Who you’re traveling to Las Vegas with (solo, as a couple, as a larger group)
  • Where you plan on walking to on foot (Do you plan on walking to Wynn? The Sphere? To other nearby hotels?)

Let’s talk about it!

The Venetian vs. Palazzo: Rooms

In terms of overall layout, the rooms between the two towers are pretty similar.

Let’s look at a 2-Queen Standard Suite, for example. These rooms will come with 2 queen beds, plus a living room with a full-size sofa-sleeper as well as a spacious Italian marble bathroom. Within the bathrooms, you’ll find a double-sink vanity and a glass-enclosed shower separate from the soaking tub.

Traveling with others who need a separate room? Both The Venetian and The Palazzo offer adjoining rooms, which means you can leave the door open and essentially hang out together.

Where they begin to differ is in the color schemes and the room sizes.

Rooms at The Venetian are predominantly purple and gold (some rooms are red and gold), while the rooms at The Palazzo feature light gold and dark teals. Let’s compare room sizes next.

Standard Suites: What most people will end up booking. These rooms have a sleeping area, a living room with a full-size sofa-sleeper, and a spacious Italian marble bathroom.

  • Standard 1-King Suites at The Venetian are 650 sq ft.
  • Standard 1-King Suites at The Palazzo are 720 sq ft.
  • Standard 2-Queen Suites at The Venetian are 750 sq ft.
  • Standard 2-Queen Suites at The Palazzo are 720 sq ft.

Premium Suites: These rooms have an additional sitting area and work area.

  • Premium Two Queen Suites at The Venetian are 1,100 sq ft
  • Premium King Suites at The Palazzo are 940 sq ft

Grand 1 Bedroom Suites: These rooms have a semi-formal dining room, jetted tub, a large separate glass shower, a separate seating area, as well as a full bar with a seating area.

  • At The Venetian: 1,300 sq ft.
  • At The Palazzo: 1,280 sq ft.

Winner: Tie. The Palazzo for couples, The Venetian for larger groups

The Venetian vs. Palazzo: Location

The Venetian Palazzo
Courtesy of The Venetian

Both of these hotels are next to each other at the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip.

The Venetian is closer to the walkway to The Sphere as well as other hotels south of the resort complex like Caesars, Harrah’s, and The LINQ.

The Palazzo is situated north of The Venetian, which makes it just a tad bit closer to Treasure Island and Wynn Las Vegas.

The proximity to Wynn is a pretty sweet perk if you like shows, fine dining, and nightlife. Walking to Wynn’s Awakening showXS NightclubEncore Beach Club, etc. is much easier to do from the Palazzo than if you were based at The Venetian.

(If you’re a girl who knows how it feels to walk long distances in high heels, you’ll know that this is an important factor!)

Winner: Tie. The ‘better’ location depends on what you plan on doing during your time in Vegas.

The Venetian vs. Palazzo: Entertainment + Amenities

Because these two hotels are on the same resort complex (just in two different towers), you’ll have access to everything within the two towers as a hotel guest.

Combined, The Venetian and Palazzo house more than 2.3 million square feet of meeting space, 1 million square feet of retail space, 10 outdoor pools, and 40+ restaurants.

Here’s an example of the resort amenities and entertainment options that you’ll have easy access to no matter which tower you choose:

  • Grand Canal Shoppes: An extensive shopping mall with a variety of luxury retailers, dining options, and the unique ambiance of the recreated Venice canals.
  • Canal Gondola Rides: A signature experience where you can enjoy a ride on a gondola through the resort’s indoor and outdoor canals. More than 500,000 visitors ride the gondolas every year!
  • Canyon Ranch Spa: One of the largest and most luxurious spas in Las Vegas, offering a wide range of wellness services, fitness classes, and a 40-foot rock climbing wall.
  • Onsite dayclub and nightclub: TAO Beach Club is a hotspot during pool party season, while TAO Nightclub features top DJs and has a similar stature to other top nightclubs like XS (Wynn) and Marquee (The Cosmo).
  • Great restaurant options: Combined, there are over 40 restaurants at your doorstep. Currently, five chefs of The Venetian and The Palazzo have received the coveted James Beard Award for culinary excellence: Wolfgang Puck, Mario Batali, Emeril Lagasse, Thomas Keller, and Daniel Boulud.
  • Grand Lux Cafe: A Venetian/Palazzo signature and one of my favorite places to grab a casual meal! There’s a Grand Lux at each of the hotel towers.
  • A total of 10 outdoor pools: There are three at The Venetian and seven at The Palazzo.

Winner: It’s a tie — you get the best of both worlds no matter which tower you choose.

The Venetian vs. Palazzo: Hotel Reviews

At the time of researching for this guide, here’s what we found when it came to user reviews on various hotel booking sites that we know and trust:

Hotel SiteThe VenetianThe Palazzo
Booking.com8.7/10
(12k+ reviews)
8.8/10
(4k+ reviews)
Hotels.com9/10
(17k+ reviews)
9/10
(‎8k+ reviews)
Priceline8.9/10
(15k+ reviews)
9.2/10
(‎7k+ reviews)

Even though there are way more reviews for The Venetian (which makes sense, it’s been around a lot longer), The Palazzo is the one that gets the higher marks and ratings on most of the third-party booking sites.

Having stayed at both resort towers ourselves, we like the rooms at The Palazzo more, so we’d agree with this overall rating.

Winner: The Palazzo

Overall Winner

So which is better — The Venetian or The Palazzo? Because there are so many similarities between the resort amenities themselves, we think this decision really boils down to room size.

Traveling solo or as a couple? Because the Standard 1 King Suites at The Palazzo are slightly bigger than those at The Venetian, we’d go with The Palazzo for this category.

Traveling as a larger group? The Standard 2-Queen Suites are nearly the same size, so either hotel will do. Plus, both hotels offer adjoining rooms, which is great if you want to stay connected with your tripmates during your stay.

Still stuck between the two? If you really can’t pick between the two, you should just book whichever one is showing a cheaper price.

The Bottom Line

At the end of the day, the two sister hotels are so similar that you might not even notice (or care about) the extra square footage of one versus the other.

Both towers are wonderful and will give you access to all of the resort’s amazing amenities, so you really can’t go wrong with either. No matter which you choose, you’re going to be treated to great service, plentiful dining options, and an all-around luxurious stay.

These are the exact reasons why The Venetian/Palazzo is our #1 choice when it comes to our personal favorite places to stay on the Strip.
