Las Vegas might have a reputation for being pretentious, upscale, and glitzy, but if you know where to look, it’s actually a treasure trove of activities perfect for seniors.

Once you look past the high-end casinos, you’ll find that the city offers a ton of attractions that cater to those seeking a more relaxed–yet equally entertaining–experience.

Since shows are both entertaining and easy on the body (unlike some of the more physically demanding activities), you’ll find plenty of them on our list of recommendations.

And don’t forget to take advantage of the senior specials when you’re in town! While many are available on weekdays, you can also score special ticket pricing any day of the week for some of the top attractions, like the Neon Museum, Titanic Exhibit, PopStroke, and more.

Vegas really is an entertainment hotspot for all ages, and with these tips, you’ll be able to enjoy the best of it without missing a beat.

Take advantage of all the senior specials across town

For example, South Point Hotel and Casino offers specials for seniors on Mondays. As a senior, you can watch movies at Cinemark Century South Point all day for only $4 each (on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays). You also receive half-off dining and half-off Bingo if you have enough points on your player’s club card.

Stations Casinos (Red Rock, Green Valley Ranch, Durango, Palace Station, Sunset, Boulder, and Santa Fe) offer even better Senior specials. You’ll want to head to one of these casino hotels on Wednesdays and Thursdays. On Wednesdays, they offer half-price point dining (with points on your card) at most restaurants and $5 movie matinees. On Thursdays, you get 10X points on slots and video poker.

Boyd Gaming (Aliante, The Orleans, Gold Coast, Suncoast, Sam’s Town, Cannery, California, Fremont, Main Street) honors seniors on Tuesdays as well with an unlimited 10X points multiplier on slots and a free Bingo blue pack.

Play a few games of bingo

Plaza Hotel and Casino Bingo

Playing at the slot machines and poker tables means losing money way too fast. Bingo, on the other hand, is way more laid back and entertaining (at least it is to us).

Plus, the fact that many of them give you two free drinks with admission means you’re going to have a very fun hour-long session!

Bingo halls in Vegas are not as easy to find as some of the other more popular casino games, but if you know where to look, there are some great opportunities to have fun with your friends and win some big money.

If you’re coming from the Las Vegas Strip, the closest bingo venues to you are Palace Station Hotel and Casino and Plaza Hotel and Casino.

Catch the dueling pianos at Piano Bar

The Piano Bar at Harrahs Las Vegas

Harrah’s Piano Bar is hands down one of the best come-as-you-are spots on the Strip for live music! Where else can you karaoke til 9 pm, then catch an epic dueling pianos showdown that keeps the energy high til late into the night?

The piano players are insanely talented, making every song a crowd-pleaser. And you know what? Whenever we’ve been here, the crowd’s always SO into it!

It’s free to enjoy, and the drinks won’t break the bank compared to other fancier spots on the Strip.

Oh yeah, if you’re staying somewhere nearby, be sure to come back to catch Big Elvis! This is one of the longest-running and beloved acts of the Piano Bar. Take a musical ride with The King every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 2 PM, 3:30 PM and 5 PM.

Listen to jazz music at Nowhere

Nowhere Fontainebleau

The name might suggest… not much, but the experience at Fontainebleau’s Nowhere is anything but forgettable. This speakeasy offers a unique departure from the norm with its swanky, large room stylishly decorated in warm hues and plush banquettes.

Enjoy live jazz from 8 PM to 12 AM Sunday to Thursday, and 9 PM to 1 AM Friday and Saturday. The jazz performances are worth the visit alone! From up-close illusions and backgammon to tarot readings, the venue offers a variety of unique entertainments that keep each visit fresh and exciting. Really, no two visits will ever feel the same or feel stale!

You’ll wanna get dressed up a bit for this one, since proper upscale attire is required to enter this tucked-away spot.

Cirque du Soleil: “O” at Bellagio

Cirque Du Soleil O at Bellagio Las Vegas
Courtesy of Cirque Du Soleil

First off, let me start by saying that “O” by Cirque du Soleil is a sensory masterpiece that’ll leave you breathless.

“O”, phonetically speaking, is the French word for water (spelled “eau”). Inspired by the grace of water and the concept of infinity, the show incorporates world-class divers, synchronized swimmers, and acrobats to create the most surreal and romantic show in all of Vegas.

“O” is almost a rite of passage for Vegas-goers. Even my mom has seen this show at least three times!

Needless to say, “O” is leagues above the majority of shows in Vegas — as with all Cirque du Soleil shows, it’s all about the production value. I mean, no other show is going to have a 1.5 million-gallon pool on stage!

Be prepared to splurge though. This is Las Vegas’ most premium (and priciest) show.

Awakening at Wynn

Awakening Wynn Las Vegas

Okay, we said a lot of good things about “O”, but there’s actually one show we love more than “O”. That’s Awakening.

As Wynn’s newest show, Awakening has already wowed massive audiences with its combination of dramatic choreography, fantastical creatures, original musical score, and narration by none other than Anthony Hopkins.

Expect quite the variety show — there’s dancing, graceful aerialist acts, acrobatics, magic, drama, comedy, singing, acting, lights/lasers, and crazy good production value, but best of all… amazing costuming.

So much fantasy! So many mermaids — so many lights! The whole thing was absolutely spectacular. If you love fantasy and colors, this show is a must.

After watching it for myself, Awakening is now the #1 show I recommend to all my friends/family.

Michael Jackson ONE

Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson ONE Las Vegas
Courtesy of Cirque du Soleil

Michael Jackson ONE is a Cirque du Soleil production celebrating the music and dance of the legendary Michael Jackson. And if you know anything about Vegas, you’ll know that Cirque shows have great production value.

This immersive show combines acrobatics, dance, and visual effects to create an experience that transports audiences into Jackson’s world of music videos and iconic performances.

Fans of Michael Jackson will enjoy reliving his timeless hits in a vibrant and dynamic theatrical setting, making it a fitting tribute to the King of Pop’s enduring legacy!

The Fountains of Bellagio

Bellagio Water Fountain Show

Bellagio’s famous water fountain show is a must for first-timers, no matter your age. This free water show features lights and music (genres include classical, opera, Broadway, and even pop songs) to give visitors a quintessentially Vegas experience.

The fountain show runs every half hour during the day and every 15 minutes in the evening. We recommend catching it in the evening for an extra-wow experience!

Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

From there, head inside the Bellagio to see the beautiful Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, featuring larger-than-life floral displays that change seasonally.

Each season, the talented Horticulture and Engineering teams transform the 14,000-square-foot Botanical Gardens into a showcase of inspiring sights, sounds, scents, and colors!

Depending on when you go, you’ll be able to enjoy a different landscape featuring Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, along with a special display for Lunar New Year.

We’ve seen more of these than we can count on both hands, yet we keep coming back because they’re all so spectacularly pretty.

Take the history tour at Neon Museum

Neon Boneyard Las Vegas

Since 1996, Downtown Las Vegas’ Neon Museum has collected, preserved, and exhibited retro Las Vegas signs from the 1930’s onward.

What began as a random storage area of defunct neon signs (aka the Neon Boneyard) has grown into a full-fledged museum with more than 200 rescued historic neon signs — all lit up for the public to enjoy!

You can check out the visitor’s center, view the collection within the museum, partake in one of the many special tours taking place throughout the day, or stroll through the boneyard on your own.

During our latest visit with my elderly parents, we saw the Brilliant! Jackpot light show created by artist Craig Winslow that took us through the history of Las Vegas through music and lights. It was very entertaining, but I think they would have actually liked the history tour more.

To be honest, unless they’re big fans of neon lights, older guests will probably be bored without one of the specialty tours.

PRO TIP: For seniors (65+), you’ll get $5 off the General Admission ticket price.

WOW – The Vegas Spectacular

Get ready to be blown away by WOW – The Vegas Spectacular, an internationally acclaimed production that’s been seen by over 2.5 million viewers worldwide.

Experience a world of water, wonder, and fantasy as 30 artists take the stage in a display of talent and creativity. Directed by Hanoch Rosenn (known for his extravagant productions), WOW promises to, well, wow audiences of all ages!

Expect 3D multi-media projections, water walls, holograms, and dazzling choreography set to magnificent music. From aerialists and acrobats to stunt performers and dancers, WOW features an incredible lineup of talent.

This award-winning production has rightfully earned its accolades, including Best Production Show, Best New Show, Best Family Friendly Show, and Best Value Show in the Best of Las Vegas awards.

The Rat Pack is Back!

Rat Pack Is Back Las Vegas

Before Elvis Presley made his mark on Las Vegas, the city swayed to the rhythm of four charismatic entertainers whose cool musical flair and charming stage presence captivated the hearts of many people.

In the 1960s, the Rat Pack—comprising Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., and Dean Martin—ushered in an era of glamour and excitement at the Copa Room in the Sands Hotel, solidifying Las Vegas as a premier entertainment destination.

The Rat Pack Is Back! is your chance to relive the revelry and enjoy the timeless tunes of the Rat Pack.

Frank, Sammy and Dean reunite on stage to perform their old classics like “Volare”, “Luck Be A Lady”, “Lady is a Tramp” and “New York, New York”.

Carpenters Legacy

If you love mob stories and true crime, we think you’re going to like this one. At Downtown Las Vegas’ Mob Museum, you can delve into all kinds of dark and fascinating history of organized crime.

Located in a former federal courthouse, this museum offers an immersive experience with exhibits on infamous mobsters, law enforcement efforts, and the impact of organized crime on America.

Among its most interesting exhibits are the Wall from the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, which is an actual piece of the wall where one of the most notorious mob hits took place, and the interactive Crime Lab, where you can learn all about forensic science and criminal investigations.

Other highlights include the Prohibition-era Speakeasy, where you can enjoy authentic period cocktails, and the Distillery, where you can opt for a drinking tour and taste their very own moonshine made with 100% corn and bottled at a strong 50% ABV.

Marriage Can Be Murder Dinner Show

Marriage Can Be Murder Dinner Show Las Vegas

For folks who love murder mysteries, interactive dinners, and/or immersive experiences in general, we’ve got JUST the thing for you!

Marriage Can Be Murder is an award-winning interactive comedy and murder mystery dinner experience where the audience members become part of the show. If you liked the movie Glass Onion or the game of Clue, then this is a dinner show that you won’t want to pass up.

Anyone can be a suspect as actors could easily be posting as one of the seemingly innocent guests among you. You might be seated next to the murderer, YOU may even be suspected of murder, but only time will tell as the night unravels and more clues are revealed.

Get ready to be part of the story as you chow down on your salad, warm rolls, a chicken or beef entree, and ice cream dessert.

Showgirl Museum

Las Vegas Showgirl Museum

Perhaps the most “uniquely Vegas” of all on this list is the Showgirl Museum, where you can explore the glamorous world of Las Vegas showgirls.

This museum features actual wardrobe pieces, sets, props, film footage, historical documents, and costume designs from the world of showgirls both locally and around the world.

You may even catch live re-enactments of some of Vegas’ most famous production numbers and specialty acts from Hallelujah Hollywood, Splash, Enter the Night, Jubilee!, Les Folies Bergere, and Liberace Show, in addition to famous movies and revues from around the world.

Pinball Hall of Fame

Pinball Hall Of Fame Las Vegas

In a nutshell, the Pinball Hall of Fame is full of old pinball games, perfect for reliving the glory days of arcade gaming.

If you can think of a game, they probably have it — and then some! This spot carries the world’s largest collection of pinball machines, ranging from vintage classics to modern faves.

Play your way through decades of pinball history and experience the charm of these old-timey games while you’re there. You’ll find rows and rows of machines, all ranging from $0.25 to $0.50 per play.

(Don’t be surprised if you find that 30-40% of the pinball machines don’t work. They ARE old as heck, after all.)

PRO TIP: The Pinball Hall Of Fame is located right across from the famous ‘Welcome to Las Vegas’ sign, so if you’ve been dying to get a pic in front of the sign, you can pair it with a visit to the museum.

Play mini golf

KISS Mini Golf
Courtesy of KISS World

Mini golfing is a fun and easy activity that’s perfect for seniors looking to enjoy some light-hearted competition.

In Las Vegas, you can try the KISS-themed Mini Golf at the Rio for a rock ‘n’ roll experience or step into another dimension at Twilight Zone Mini Golf at Horseshoe Las Vegas.

For an off-strip option, PopStroke in Town Square offers two 18-hole putting courses, a full menu, and a sports bar, making it a great spot for a family-friendly outing. You pay one price for all-day play, and as a senior, you save $7 off the general ticket price, too.

Go bowling

Bowling is a classic, low-impact activity that’s perfect for seniors looking to have some fun with friends or family.

In Vegas, you’ll find plenty of great bowling alleys, especially at Station Casinos like Red Rock Lanes (Red Rock Casino) and Strike Zone (Sunset Station), where you can enjoy modern lanes, comfy seating, and even snack bars to keep you fueled.

Other venues like the Boyd Casinos have senior-specific leagues and offer special pricing during certain times of the week, making them ideal for a budget-friendly day out. You can check out the latest offerings at Gold Coast or Suncoast, for example.

Go hiking at Valley of Fire State Park

Valley Of Fire State Park

Valley of Fire State Park is so otherworldly looking. If the idea of towering sandstone formations glowing with fiery hues of red and gold under the warm sun sounds magical, you’re going to love Valley of Fire SP.

Personally, this is one of my favorite parks in all of Nevada — I love it even more than the Grand Canyon!

If you’re up for a hike, make it the 3.2-mile Fire Wave, White Domes, and Seven Wonders Loop. Just be sure to pack lots of water, lots of sunscreen, and a sunhat! Yes, even in the wintertime.

See desert landscapes on a guided bus tour

Grand Canyon National Park

For those of you who want to get outdoors but can’t hike or walk for long periods of time, one of the best ways to see the desert is on a guided tour by bus.

If you’re open to venturing out further of the Las Vegas area, you’ll be glad to know that there are at least three national parks within driving distance from Las Vegas: Grand Canyon, Zion, and Bryce National Parks.

From Vegas, the closest option is the Grand Canyon West Rim — home to the famous Skywalk glass bridge. There’s also Grand Canyon National Park’s South Rim, a different part of the Grand Canyon, home to breathtaking landscapes of the United States’ most recognizable natural monument.

Two best-selling tours from Vegas we like to recommend to our friends include:
